  • On the death of Her Majesty the Queen

    Fri 09 Sep 2022 Maria Ellel

    Wellfield Church School and its community is greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

    At this sad time, we remember together an extraordinary person; not only was she our Queen, our Sovereign, she was also someone who believed that leadership meant dedicating her life to the service of others.

    We pray that God will bring comfort and hope to her family at this distressing time as well as to all those whom she reigned over with such dignity and grace.

    The children have today started a book of commemoration for our church school community and we would invite parents and members of our founding churches to come and leave your thoughts and prayers as a sign of respect.

    Gracious God, we give thanks
    for the life of your servant Queen Elizabeth,
    for her faith and her dedication to duty.
    Bless our nation as we mourn her death
    and may her example continue to inspire us;
    through Jesus Christ our Lord.
    Amen.

    A Prayer from Methodist Central Hall Westminster and the London District of the Methodist Church:

    Loving God of all, we give thanks for the long life of Her Majesty The Queen;

    for her wisdom and dignity;

    for her faithfulness to her vows;

    for her dedication to public service;

    for her Christian faith and joyful witness.

    May she rest in peace

    and enjoy the gift of everlasting life.

    We entrust Queen Elizabeth to your eternal love

    and pray for all her family,

    but especially to The King,

    and all the Royal Family.

    In Jesus’ name. Amen.

  • Welcome to Wellfield!!

    Wed 07 Sep 2022 Maria Ellel

    This week, we are thrilled to welcome our new EYFS children and their families to Wellfield Church School.  You are all very welcome and we hope you will be extremely happy in becoming an integral part of our Wellfield family.

  • Hot Weather Conditions!

    Sun 17 Jul 2022 Maria Ellel

    As you will be aware, we are expecting even more extreme temperatures and weather conditions over the next two days.

    School is open so please send your children, as per usual. However, we would advise that they come to school in their PE Kit (White school t-shirt and shorts - not leggings or tracksuit bottoms). They may also wear trainers with their PE kit. Please note PE kits must follow school policy - it is not non-uniform day.

    (Y1 - please follow previous instructions from Miss Green).

    Please ensure that your children have had suncream liberally applied. Feel free to send sun hats/caps and plenty of water.

    We will ensure that school is kept as cool as possible and that we do not over-exert the children physically throughout the day. We will consider whether it is safe to play outside for shorter periods of time.

    As always, we will do our very best to keep your children safe during these extreme conditions.

    Tue 26 Apr 2022 Maria Ellel

    Two of our wonderful pupils, Charlotte (Y4) and Amelia (Y1) and their mummy teamed up with 'Get Creative', to clear an unloved section of Gannow from litter recently.  In the near future, this space is to become home to some beautiful local artwork and Amelia and Charlotte have helped this to happen.  What dedication and fantastic Gospel Values you have shown girls - well done!

  • Cross Country Champions!

    Wed 16 Mar 2022 Mr Hinksman

    A massive well done to our Year 6 cross country runners. We are so proud of how they performed but also how well they represented our school. Each of them gave 100% and never gave up even when it got very hard (and wet and cold!!). It's with great pleasure that we can announce that the boys' team came out as overall champions! Seven of our runners have also qualified for the East Lancashire Finals in June so look out for an update on how we get on. Well done again to everyone who took part.

  • World Book Day Fun!

    Mon 14 Mar 2022 Maria Ellel

    World Book Day was Wow! with colourful and creative outfits, keeping everyone guessing as to what the 'word' of each costume was.  Lots of fun had by all on a theme surrounding vocabulary.

    The children enjoyed a full day of activities exploring new texts and stories and had a go at becoming storywriters themselves.

    A number of children and their dedicated parents are proving to be a great success in making our school grounds beautiful through their super gardening skills.  This week we planted up some of our plant pots that were looking a little neglected.  They now look beautiful and colourful in readiness for Spring. Well done everyone!

    We have great plans for the future of gardening club and if you are interested in joining us with your child, please contact the school office for further information.
