  • Careers Day

Fri 28 Apr 2023 Miss Howard & Mrs Lightbown

Yesterday, Years 5 & 6 had a Careers Day in school and enjoyed learning all about jobs in the fire service, police, NHS, veterinary science, transportation, farming, graphic design and dance as well as receiving talks about job opportunities and courses offered by Burnley Football Club and Burnley College.

The children were able to discuss the skills and attributes needed for different careers as well as understanding some of the different influences and pathways to their chosen career.

A day thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thank you so much to all the companies and individuals that came to support at this event and help to make it such a successful day for the children.

  • Mathathletes Cup!

Fri 31 Mar 2023 Maria Ellel

Yesterday afternoon, Ms Gerrard, Mr Hinksman and Mrs Ellel took a few of our amazing mathematicians from Years 5 and 6 to have their mathematical minds put to the test at the first 'Mathletes Cup' Competition held in the Ribble Valley. They were up against some of the top primary mathematicians in the local area and they were challenged with three heats of extremely tricky equations, calculations and puzzles. An amazing effort from Wellfield - once again so proud of their performance - the questions even challenged the teachers!!

Well done to Logan, Milosz, Jenson, Seb, Oscar, Oliver, Evelyn and Zach - you were superstars and a special mention to Logan and Oscar who were put forward for the quickfire arithmetic round - just amazing how calm you stayed!

Congratulations to Whalley Primary School for winning the cup this year.

  • Music Week - What a Success!

Fri 31 Mar 2023 Maria Ellel

This week, the children have been studying music through the decades from the Beatles to S Club 7 - we have all sung our hearts out whilst learning about different music genres, fashions and the history of the decades from the 60's to current date. The children had the opportunity to be part of a rock band at the beginning of the week when we welcomed Rock Steady into school on Monday and today we concluded our week with a huge music concert where the children dressed up as pop stars from across the music industry. You looked absolutely fabulous!!

What an amazing experience we have all had.....its been a true trip down memory lane...particularly for the teachers!

If you were able to be part of our music concert this afternoon, we hope you enjoyed the experience. If not, we have attached a few photos from the day along with some very special messages from some true popstars! How lucky were we!!

Thank you to everyone involved in making our music week so special.

  • SWAT Spelling Bee 2023

Fri 24 Mar 2023 Maria Ellel

Today, six of our fabulous children went to 'Spelling Bee Battle' against Padiham Green Primary and Whittlefield Primary School. To say the children who competed across all three schools were amazing is an understatement - their ability to spell so many 'very difficult' words in a short space of time whilst everyone else was watching and they were being timed, was just phenomenal.

Our Wellfield children were truly fabulous and they certainly gave the other children some true competition. Massive congratulations to Jenson, Ben, Hugo and Aurelia - you were so close and we were so proud of you in how you represented us today - amazing semi-finalists.

However...... the big news!! We came away with two children who made it through to the final!!!!

Huge congratulations to our two youngest competitors - Buddy (Y2) and Emily (Y1) - you were like machines today - just fabulous spelling capabilities at such a young age!! We are beyond proud of you and we are very excited to watch you in the final with our super semi-finalists cheering you on!

Parents - more details on the final to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

    Well done Wellfield!!
