  • SWAT Spelling Bee 2023

    Fri 24 Mar 2023 Maria Ellel

    Today, six of our fabulous children went to 'Spelling Bee Battle' against Padiham Green Primary and Whittlefield Primary School. To say the children who competed across all three schools were amazing is an understatement - their ability to spell so many 'very difficult' words in a short space of time whilst everyone else was watching and they were being timed, was just phenomenal.

    Our Wellfield children were truly fabulous and they certainly gave the other children some true competition. Massive congratulations to Jenson, Ben, Hugo and Aurelia - you were so close and we were so proud of you in how you represented us today - amazing semi-finalists.

    However...... the big news!! We came away with two children who made it through to the final!!!!

    Huge congratulations to our two youngest competitors - Buddy (Y2) and Emily (Y1) - you were like machines today - just fabulous spelling capabilities at such a young age!! We are beyond proud of you and we are very excited to watch you in the final with our super semi-finalists cheering you on!

    Parents - more details on the final to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

    Well done Wellfield!!

  • Children in Need 2022

    Fri 18 Nov 2022 Maria Ellel

    Today, our children came out wearing their best spots and yellow clothing in true 'Pudsey Bear' style to raise money for Children in Need. Following a successful cake stall at breaktime and after parents' giving very generous donations, we managed to raise the super sum of £153.57.

    Thank you very much to everyone for joining in with the theme of the day for this worthy cause.

  • On the death of Her Majesty the Queen

    Fri 09 Sep 2022 Maria Ellel

    Wellfield Church School and its community is greatly saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

    At this sad time, we remember together an extraordinary person; not only was she our Queen, our Sovereign, she was also someone who believed that leadership meant dedicating her life to the service of others.

    We pray that God will bring comfort and hope to her family at this distressing time as well as to all those whom she reigned over with such dignity and grace.

    The children have today started a book of commemoration for our church school community and we would invite parents and members of our founding churches to come and leave your thoughts and prayers as a sign of respect.

    Gracious God, we give thanks
    for the life of your servant Queen Elizabeth,
    for her faith and her dedication to duty.
    Bless our nation as we mourn her death
    and may her example continue to inspire us;
    through Jesus Christ our Lord.
    Amen.

    A Prayer from Methodist Central Hall Westminster and the London District of the Methodist Church:

    Loving God of all, we give thanks for the long life of Her Majesty The Queen;

    for her wisdom and dignity;

    for her faithfulness to her vows;

    for her dedication to public service;

    for her Christian faith and joyful witness.

    May she rest in peace

    and enjoy the gift of everlasting life.

    We entrust Queen Elizabeth to your eternal love

    and pray for all her family,

    but especially to The King,

    and all the Royal Family.

    In Jesus’ name. Amen.

    Wed 07 Sep 2022 Maria Ellel

  • Hot Weather Conditions!

    Sun 17 Jul 2022 Maria Ellel

    As you will be aware, we are expecting even more extreme temperatures and weather conditions over the next two days.

    School is open so please send your children, as per usual. However, we would advise that they come to school in their PE Kit (White school t-shirt and shorts - not leggings or tracksuit bottoms). They may also wear trainers with their PE kit. Please note PE kits must follow school policy - it is not non-uniform day.

    (Y1 - please follow previous instructions from Miss Green).

    Please ensure that your children have had suncream liberally applied. Feel free to send sun hats/caps and plenty of water.

    We will ensure that school is kept as cool as possible and that we do not over-exert the children physically throughout the day. We will consider whether it is safe to play outside for shorter periods of time.

    As always, we will do our very best to keep your children safe during these extreme conditions.
