British Values
The Department for Education state that there is a need “to create and enforce a clear and rigorous expectation on all schools to promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.”
At Wellfield Methodist & Anglican Church School we believe that everybody is loved by God and that we should demonstrate that love one to another, regardless of faith, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, beliefs, appearance or financial status.
We oppose prejudice or intolerance of any kind and this is reflected in our practice, policies and procedures.
We ensure that our pupils understand that while people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law. We cover these values through our curriculum; through visits and visitors and with dedicated PSHE lessons targeting key learning objectives.
It is our aim to teach the children that we are all very important and that we all matter and that by playing our part in living by these values they will recognise their own self-worth in terms of morals and standards of behaviour that are important in life.
