School will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday and will re-open on Tuesday 14th April to the Keyworker children that have been allocated places. If you need to contact school in an emergency over the Bank Holiday weekend please email bursar@wellfield.lancs.sch.uk and someone will get back to you.
Stay Home, Save Lives
For local information about Free School Meals
http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/children-education-families/schools/free-school-meals.aspx
To apply, simply ring your local Area Education Office with details of your name, date of birth and National Insurance number and an immediate on-line decision can be given
(01254 220708 or 01254 220614 or pupil.accesseast@lancashire.gov.uk).
As you are probably aware, we offer an independently run Breakfast and After School Childcare facility here at Wellfield School called 'Little Stars'. The childcare provision runs from 7.15am until 8.45am and then from 3.30pm until 6.00pm - term time only.
For information about availability of places and cost, please speak to the school office staff.
TRAFFIC ONE WAY SYSTEM – A voluntary one-way system is in operation on Wellfield Drive to avoid traffic congestion at the beginning and end of the school day. All parents in cars should approach the school via Hunters Drive and Fallowfield Drive and leave by going up the hill along Wellfield Drive.
We also insist that parents do not drive down the school drive at the start and end of the school day, as the congestion caused is likely to precipitate accidents.
Please ensure that you and your child use the footpath through the school car park.
Local residents become very agitated by insensitive parking. Please park with consideration for our neighbours at all times.
In the event of school being closed due to severe weather it will be advertised on local radio - 2BR and BBC Radio Lancashire. We will also send a text to parents as soon as a decision is made and update the school web site as soon as possible (although heavy use of the website may prevent this). Please inform other members of your family about the arrangements and make sure that the person who receives the text informs whoever is to collect the child.
On days when the weather is bad the phone line becomes very congested with calls, and I would ask that you do not ring school unless it is a genuine emergency. If you need to contact us, for example to report a child's absence, on such days and you have access to the internet, please consider sending an email as it is difficult to listen to answer machine messages when the line is very busy.
Can I also encourage everyone to make sure the mobile number that receives text messages is still current.
Thank you for your help in this matter.
Please note that it is no longer possible to download the Absence Request Form. The only way to request an absence is to speak to the Headteacher who will personally provide you with a form.
