WELCOME TO THE YEAR 6 CLASS PAGE!
Miss Hourigan and Mrs Slater welcome you to Year 6!!
We are both looking forward to helping the children in all aspects of their learning, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. If you would like to discuss something in depth please make an appointment with the office.
In Year 6 we learn about a wide variety of topics that excite and interest the children. They will become ever more confident and independent and can take greater control over their own learning.
The children are encouraged to talk about the things they excel at and things they are trying hard to get better at. This way the children progress well at their own level. Year 6 is a fun, bright and safe environment where the children are happy to learn.
Please see our Curriculum Maps below to find out what we will be covering this half term.
Please see our termly stars to find out what has been happening in our class each term.

For this half term we will be on Teams for our online lessons, a calendar invite will be sent to the Year 6 group for each lesson and all the work will be available as either assignments or in the lesson file folders for your child to see, edit and send back to me. If you have any problems please email the class email firstname.lastname@example.org or contact the office and I will try to help.
Your child should be on the Guided reading lesson when they are on the 'Teacher Guided Reading' activity. All of the other guided reading activities can be done without Teams, and the resources are in the Guided Reading channel.
Your child should be on every Maths lesson from 9:30 - 10:30 and the resources will be in the Maths channel and independent work will be set as an assignment to be handed in that day.
Your child should be on every English lesson from 11:00 - 12:00 and the resources will be in the English channel. Your child can complete their work on a computer and save it to their finished work folder or complete in their lockdown book and upload a picture of their work to their finished work folder.
There will be a Teams meeting on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 1:45 - 2:00 to go through the afternoon lesson information if your child wants it, but this is not compulsory. Your child will need to upload their work or a picture of their afternoon lesson work to their finished work folder.
Like with our Zoom lessons, you will need to be sat somewhere quiet where you will be able to join in without any distractions and have a pen, pencil, ruler , your home learning journal and anything else you may need ready.
Our new timetable is below, there is also one on the General chat in Teams.

You are required to attend the 3 Zoom sessions for your group per day, a message from school with which group and timings has been sent. The timetable for the day is below.
For our sessions you will need to be sat somewhere quiet where you will be able to join in without any distractions and have a pen, pencil, ruler, your home learning journal and anything else you may need ready.
At the end of each session I will explain the independent learning tasks you are required to complete. At the end of every day (or when you have completed the work) you need to send a picture to our class email of your work so I can mark it and make sure we are all doing the work correctly.
At the start of the day, if you are not in the first group on Zoom I would like you to log on to IDL and complete 3 Maths lessons and 3 English lessons. These should be completed by the time you start in session 2 at 9:45am.
