Class 3 from September 2020

Welcome back to Year 3! This academic year has been very different to anything that we have experienced before. However, I am glad to report that the children are now settling back into the normal school routine and are enjoying time back with their friends.

Thank you for all the support you have provided during this difficult time. It has been amazing to see the resilience of the children and their engagement and enthusiasm during the remote learning sessions.

We are all working really hard this term to end the school year on a high! We hope to share lots of exciting work we are doing with you and keep you up to date with all our class news.

Class Timetable

Class Information Letter

Please send your child's reading book and reading journal into school each day in a plastic wallet. These will be wiped down when arriving in school and should be wiped down when returning home.

Homework will be sent home on a Friday to be returned by the following Thursday. Homework will be set via Teams where possible. Paper copies will be available from school. If anyone needs to reset their Teams password, please contact Mrs Kennedy.

Children should wear their P.E. kit into school on Mondays and Wednesdays when we have our P.E. sessions. Mrs Jackson will be running Forest School activities during the Wednesday session during this term, therefore please send some sturdy footwear and outerwear that you don't mind getting dirty in a plastic bag. If the weather is particularly bad then the children will have an indoor P.E. lesson instead.

The class acted out the story of 'The Persistent Widow' and discussed what it meant to have determination and resilience. They agreed that these were excellent skills to have which would help us all with our learning.

Addition in Maths

In Maths lessons, Year 3 has been looking at different ways to add and subtract two 2-digit numbers. This has included working with Base 10, bead strings and number lines before we move on to a more formal written method.

To help settle back into our school routines we have been learning mindfulness techniques. As well as reflecting on our feelings, listening to quiet music and colouring, we have been learning some breathing and relaxation techniques to help us stay focused throughout the day.

Newsflash! Breaking News!

09/10/2020. Everyone has been working extremely hard on their home learning work and through our Zoom sessions, it made it so hard to choose our Stars of the Week and Marvellous Mathematicians as everyone deserved recognising. However, after a great deal of deliberation, here are this week's nominees:

Stars of the Week: Arthur and Max for their enthusiasm and engagement in Zoom sessions - always making me smile.

Marvellous Mathematicians: Georgia A-G and Charlotte for super reasoning and problem-solving on perimeter.

02/10/2020. We are celebrating our achievements both in school and at home this week. In recognition of their successes:

This week's Wonderful Writers are Ethan and Elizabeth for some fantastic descriptive writing using expanded noun phrases.

Our Stars of the Week are Sophie D and Zach for always challenging themselves.

Everyone will be able to collect their certificates when we are back in class.

Each day's learning can be accessed through the links above which will be updated daily.

Completed work should be returned to
