Huge WELL DONE to the Wellfield Year 5/6 Football Team who beat Whittlefield in the Johnson Cup group match on Tuesday afternoon. With local pride at stake, our children played their hearts out and emerged victorious with a resounding 6-1 win. Goals from Mione, Oliver G, Oscar and a hat trick from Joey Ramone alongside excellent performances from Oliver M, Ethan, Max, Arthur and Zach ensured the outcome of the game was never in doubt. The sportmanship seen by everyone was excellent and we are all very proud of each and everyone of you. Well done!
A HUGE well done to our Yr5/6 Girls' Football Team who have finished top of their group in the Burnley School's Girls Football Tournament and progressed through to the next round.
The girls played both their group matches last night against Casterton Primary School and Hapton Primary School.
The first match of the evening against Casterton was a tough affair however the girls dug deep and won the match 2-0 with goals from Mione and Chloe. The whole team defended well and Isabella did superb as our stand-in goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet.
In the second match, the girls really found their rhythm and ran out victorious with another goal from Mione and a hatrick from Chloe. The girls all played fantastic with Pippa and Sophie being the rocks in defence and Alana making a couple of great saves. In midfield, Ava and Mione played some fantastic football with Georgia, Kiera and Isabella always giving them an outlet whenever they needed it. Up front, Chloe ran her socks off and got her rewards by scoring 3 fantastic goals.
All the girls represented Wellfield perfectly with fantastic sportwomanship shown at all times. I am really proud of them all. Well done girls!
Watch out for news on our next round fixture!
It gives me great pleasure and an immense feeling of pride to inform you about our latest Ofsted inspection report (link to the report below).
As you know the Section 5 inspection took place on 1st and 2nd November 2023. There were two inspectors present over the two days.
It was concluded that we are now officially, ‘a Good school’, and they rated us solidly good in every category assessed, with three of the five areas (Behaviour and Attitudes, Early Years Foundation Stage and Personal Development) nearly being outstanding. Safeguarding was found to be effective and the strategies and practices of the Designated Safeguarding Leads and Pastoral Team were found to be exceptional. As a result of the above grades, we have been encouraged by the inspectors to now start our journey towards excellence.
The inspectors were extremely impressed with what they saw in and around school, and they affirmed the strengths in our school and our capacity to continue to further enhance the whole education that we provide for all of our children, and the wider care for our families and community. It was lovely to hear of the inspectors’ recognition of our sheer determination, and hard work over recent years and their use of words such as meticulous, relentless and exemplary was certainly high praise, and made us very proud of our children, staff, community and school as a whole.
They commented that, ‘the school has successfully overhauled the quality of education that pupils receive’ and this was backed up by our upward trend of KS1 and KS2 results alongside our now outstanding progress measures right across reading, writing and mathematics. They acknowledged the hard work that has gone into ensuring that all our pupils, including those with SEND, now access the same ambitious curriculum and are supported proficiently so that they all achieve well.
This is a milestone moment for us. The fact that we are now in a position where nearly every aspect of our school has been praised by Ofsted and SIAMS, and the ‘Room for Improvement’ grading has been removed, reflects the conscientiousness and amazing character of our children, staff and Governing Body, as well as the positive impact of the support provided by parents and carers for children within our school. It is therefore, extremely important that I once again, acknowledge and thank you profusely for your continued backing and positive engagement with school.
Please do take time to read the attached inspection report as it not only explains the progress made since our last full inspection but outlines the next steps for our school as well.
In conclusion, all that remains for me to say is that I am immensely proud to be Headteacher at Wellfield Methodist & Anglican Church School. I am equally proud of the inspection outcome and the support of everyone within our little community that makes Wellfield what it is – JUST AMAZING!

On behalf of the Governing Board of Wellfield Methodist & Anglican Church School, we are delighted to share the results of an inspection that took place a couple of weeks ago – a Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS). In a similar way to Ofsted, all Church of England and Methodist schools are visited regularly to evaluate the key questions: Who are we as a school? What are we doing here? How, then, shall we live and learn together? By understanding these questions, the new SIAMS Framework highlights and seeks understanding of the theology that underpins a school’s Christian vision. This is a brand new Framework that came into force last September and makes it far more challenging for schools to achieve a positive judgment overall.
I am thrilled to say that we have received a wonderful report which we should all be very proud of as a school community. ‘Through its vision and practice, the school is living up to its foundation as a Church school and is enabling pupils and adults to flourish.’ Many areas of the Framework were found to be ‘exceptional or impressive’ and the inspector clearly identified that we are enabling all our children to flourish! It was also so lovely to read the phrase, 'truly reciprocal church school partnerships form a flourishing community as they ‘watch over one another in love’' – we feel that this captures exactly how our nurturing school vision was always intended.
Our wonderful ethos and environment is thanks to the energy, skills and commitment of our whole school community – staff, parents, children, governors, the Churches and wider community. It is a huge team effort and we feel very fortunate to be part of such a supportive and caring ‘family’. There is also clearly a great deal of work that goes on behind the scenes to ensure that our children receive and will continue to receive the best education and wider opportunities.
Thank you all for your continued support and commitment to our school journey.

Our 2023 KS1 Gospel Values Winner, Ellie, has been spending her summer holidays at the Sea Life Centre in Blackpool. Back in Spring, the attraction held a competition offering one budding sea creature expert the chance to become its first ever Rockpool Ranger.
Ellie was selected and as part of her role she has been teaching visitors what the aquarium does to protect rare creatures and support the local environment.
Nina from CBBC Newsround went to meet Ellie to find out more.
Please check out the link below to see Ellie's amazing interview - we are so proud of you Ellie - what a worthwhile cause.

Yesterday, Years 5 & 6 had a Careers Day in school and enjoyed learning all about jobs in the fire service, police, NHS, veterinary science, transportation, farming, graphic design and dance as well as receiving talks about job opportunities and courses offered by Burnley Football Club and Burnley College.
The children were able to discuss the skills and attributes needed for different careers as well as understanding some of the different influences and pathways to their chosen career.
A day thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thank you so much to all the companies and individuals that came to support at this event and help to make it such a successful day for the children.
The Wellbeing Ambassadors are joining forces with the School Council during the Summer Term to lead a very exciting initiative within school. Plans are underway for our very own Wellfield Wellbeing Week which will kickstart an ambitious new project to develop a permanent mindfulness area within school. The Ambassadors and Councillors will be sharing further details over the next few weeks but we are already buzzing about sharing our ideas with everyone! Keep a watch out for more details here...
Yesterday afternoon, Ms Gerrard, Mr Hinksman and Mrs Ellel took a few of our amazing mathematicians from Years 5 and 6 to have their mathematical minds put to the test at the first 'Mathletes Cup' Competition held in the Ribble Valley. They were up against some of the top primary mathematicians in the local area and they were challenged with three heats of extremely tricky equations, calculations and puzzles. An amazing effort from Wellfield - once again so proud of their performance - the questions even challenged the teachers!!
Well done to Logan, Milosz, Jenson, Seb, Oscar, Oliver, Evelyn and Zach - you were superstars and a special mention to Logan and Oscar who were put forward for the quickfire arithmetic round - just amazing how calm you stayed!
Congratulations to Whalley Primary School for winning the cup this year.
This week, the children have been studying music through the decades from the Beatles to S Club 7 - we have all sung our hearts out whilst learning about different music genres, fashions and the history of the decades from the 60's to current date. The children had the opportunity to be part of a rock band at the beginning of the week when we welcomed Rock Steady into school on Monday and today we concluded our week with a huge music concert where the children dressed up as pop stars from across the music industry. You looked absolutely fabulous!!
What an amazing experience we have all had.....its been a true trip down memory lane...particularly for the teachers!
If you were able to be part of our music concert this afternoon, we hope you enjoyed the experience. If not, we have attached a few photos from the day along with some very special messages from some true popstars! How lucky were we!!
Thank you to everyone involved in making our music week so special.
